First match checklist

Do not try to master every system in the first round. Pick one small goal: survive longer as a Hider, or clear one area cleanly as a Seeker.

  1. Open the official Steam page and confirm the game, price, platform, and requirements.
  2. Join a low-pressure room or play with friends if available.
  3. As a Hider, choose a textured area before painting.
  4. Paint the broad background color first, then add shadow or edge detail.
  5. Stop moving once the search phase begins.
  6. As a Seeker, clear edges, clutter, and corners before open space.

Common beginner mistakes

Most new players lose because they make themselves easy to compare against the background. A color that is close enough while moving may still look wrong when a Seeker has time to stare at it.

  • Painting with one flat color instead of matching light and shadow.
  • Picking an empty wall where the outline is obvious.
  • Panic-moving after a Seeker gets close.
  • Searching the same room twice while another corner stays unchecked.

Beginner priority

A decent hiding spot with calm movement beats perfect paint in a terrible location.

A simple first-hour route

Spend the first few matches learning how the stage repeats shapes and colors. After that, switch roles and study where players naturally look first.

  • Round 1: focus only on hiding near visual clutter.
  • Round 2: try matching two colors instead of one.
  • Round 3: play Seeker and clear the map in a fixed route.
  • Round 4: compare which hiding spots survived the longest.

Frequently asked questions

What should I learn first?

Learn to choose a hiding spot before painting. Good position makes every later decision easier.

Should beginners play Hider or Seeker first?

Start with Hider if you want to learn camouflage. Play Seeker soon after so you understand what opponents notice.
